AIS and GPS are key technologies for maritime navigation and vessel tracking. Because AIS broadcasts are sent over open radio frequencies without authentication or encryption, they are vulnerable to jamming and spoofing. In recent years, interference with these signals has become more visible, affecting tracking accuracy and maritime situational awareness.

We sat down with Marius, who recently won the award for best master’s thesis, to talk about his work with AI in industrial planning and his role at Maritime Optima. Read the interview to hear his thoughts on explainable AI, lessons from his studies, and how he sees AI shaping the future.

Maritime Optima notice increased international interest for their innovative AI solution ShipIntel® and announce establishment of new offices in the important global shipping hubs Greece and Singapore.

What a month! This month has been extraordinary since existing customers have both added seats and renewed their subscriptions, and new customers are signing up. That shows that we have developed products that are wanted.

The trees are already turning yellow here in Oslo, but we do really look forward to the autumn.

Revenues and number of users in ShipIntel and ShipAtlas are growing quickly, and we had the pleasure of signing a contract with Sibelco, a large mining company focused on silica, clays, feldspathics and olivine. We've done improvements in the sea route and design and are working on the larger features we are planning to launch end of March.

March offered several milestones, one of them being a new sales revenue record, beating our last record with 13%. Also, we released some big news; you can now find ShipIntel Essentials on Microsoft Teams!

Welcome to the fourth edition of our monthly newsletter, where we recap an (extremely) eventful April! 🌻 This past month has been pivotal for us, marked by exciting launches, and once again a new monthly sales record has been set.

At the end of April we revealed ShipIntel's new business model; You can now tie your ShipIntel subscription to your Microsoft 365 subscription and make ShipIntel a part of your company's IT data and security policy.

While some colleagues are on their well-deserved holidays, others are diligently working to ensure our momentum is maintained throughout the summer. We could start this newsletter off saying we’re finally back from a well-deserved summer break, and that July was uneventful. But that wouldn’t be true. Over the summer, we made significant strides in further distinguishing our two products, ShipAtlas and ShipIntel.

Every year, we welcome a couple of summer interns to our team, and this year was no different. Meet the summer interns of 2024, Frederik, Fredrik and Daniel!

Armed with gloves, trash bags and a lot of motivation we spent a Saturday making a tangible difference with a beach cleanup to prevent plastic and other waste from entering the beautiful Oslo fjord.
