Meet Rakesh - Front end developer

Hi Rakesh, Welcome to Maritime Optima! Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi Maritime Optima, My name is Rakesh Palotra, I am 30 years old and I live and work in Indore in India.

I have 9+ yrs experience as a full stack developer working with different programming languages. I love to explore new tools and concepts to improve my knowledge and keep myself updated with the latest trends and technologies.

Tell us a little bit about your background? Where do you live?

I live in Indore, (MP) a city in west-central India. More than 2 mill people live here and Indore traces its roots to its 16th century founding as a trading hub between the Deccan and Delhi. Today Indore is known for its architectural splendor. Giant Indian companies like Infosys and TCS are located here. The economy of Indore is notable for its importance in the areas of trading, finance and distribution. Indore has the largest economy in central India and is the business and trading capital of the state.

Your education, family ?

I have a M.Tech in Computer Science and Technology. I am married and we have 2 kids. I live together with my family and my mother.

In my spare time I play cricket on weekends and sometimes we do some social activities. I also love to listen to music and play video games during the evenings.

What will be your responsibilities in Maritime Optima?

In Maritime Optima, I am working as a frontend developer where I am responsible for the web and mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and I really enjoy working with the team in Maritime Optima.

What programming languages do you feel comfortable working with?

I am comfortable working with most front end programming languages like React, React Native, AngularJS, Java Script, Swift and Objective C.

There are so many “digital maritime initiatives” / start-ups - what do you think might be the most important success criteria for start-ups?

The criteria of success for a start up in my opinion are:

First you have to have a good idea, then you need to recruit a great team to work on how to plan, develop and market that idea. I think successful start-ups know how to implement smart use of technology so they are able to scale and be cost effective.

A good marketing and sales team is important and I also think a startup has to be able to provide great customer service.

A start has to be able to quickly respond to crises or unforeseen happenings, so it needs to secure funding and attract an agile team with passion.
