US-Flagged Tanker Stena Imperative Struck by Projectiles in Port of Bahrain

The US-flagged tanker Stena Imperative was struck by projectiles while alongside in the Mina Sulman Port in Bahrain, according to a UKMTO advisory and maritime security sources.

The incident occurred early March 2. UKMTO reported that the vessel was hit by “unknown projectiles,” resulting in a fire onboard. The blaze has since been extinguished, and all crew members were evacuated safely. The vessel remains in port.

Security firm Vanguard identified the vessel as Stena Imperative, which participates in the U.S. Navy’s Tanker Security Program (TSP).

According to ShipAtlas data, the vessel has been at port in Bahrain since 5th of February.

Authorities are investigating the incident. Vessels operating in the area have been advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
