A Palau-flagged oil tanker, Skylight, was struck off Oman’s Musandam peninsula on Sunday, injuring four people, Oman’s Maritime Security Centre confirmed.
The incident followed reported drone strikes on the commercial port of Duqm, marking the first time targets in or near Oman have been hit amid escalating regional tensions.
Authorities have not released details on the extent of the tanker’s damage or its cargo status. The injuries were reported as non-fatal.
The strikes come amid a broader wave of retaliatory actions in the Gulf region following joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.
According to ShipAtlas data, the vessel has been anchored in the Musandam governorate of Oman since 22nd of february. Tanker trackers states that the small tanker is used for fueling other tankers, adn has been blacklisted by the US since descember last year.
