Singapore-Flagged Containership GFS Pride Sunk in Strait of Hormuz, Sister Vessel GFS Giselle Also Struck

The Singapore-flagged containership GFS Pride was struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on October 13, caught fire, listed heavily, and subsequently sank. All 21 crew members were evacuated safely with no injuries. A second Singapore-registered containership, GFS Giselle, was struck the following day on October 14, sustaining hull damage before reaching a safe anchorage under its own power with all 22 crew safe.

Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority confirmed the sinking of GFS Pride and condemned both attacks as "unprovoked, unjustifiable, and a breach of international law." Iran claimed without evidence that GFS Pride struck a naval mine. UKMTO is coordinating with regional authorities.

The loss of GFS Pride is the second confirmed large vessel sinking in the conflict, following the Safeen Prestige.
