Cargo Vessel Baltic Wind Runs Aground in Isefjord, No Pollution Reported

The cargo vessel Baltic Wind ran aground on 18 February in the Isefjord near Kulhuse, Denmark, after stranding on a sandbar outside the marked navigation channel.

The 85-metre, 3,850-dwt vessel had departed Frederiksværk bound for Avilés when the grounding occurred. Danish authorities dispatched a patrol vessel and confirmed the ship was stuck in sand.

Preliminary checks found no water ingress and no pollution, and there were no reported injuries. The Danish Maritime Authority is awaiting a salvage plan from the owner before refloating operations begin. Once freed, the vessel will be towed back to Frederiksværk, where divers will inspect the hull and assess seaworthiness.

Authorities issued a €1,300 fine in connection with the incident. The reason the vessel was outside the navigation channel has not been disclosed.
