USS Rafael Peralta Intercepts Iranian Tanker M/T Stream in Arabian Sea, Vessel Redirected

The guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG-115) intercepted the Iranian-flagged crude oil tanker M/T Stream on April 26 after the vessel attempted to sail to an Iranian port in violation of the U.S. naval blockade. The tanker was turned back without shots fired.

CENTCOM released imagery of both vessels on April 28, confirming the interception and noting it brought the total number of vessels redirected since the blockade began on April 13 to 38.

AIS data from ShipAtlas indicates M/T Stream had last been tracked in the Malacca Strait approximately 13 days prior to the interception, suggesting the vessel had been transiting from the Indo-Pacific region toward the Arabian Sea. Flag state details confirm Iranian registry. Cargo volume and origin have not been publicly disclosed.

No injuries or use of force were reported during the interception.

CENTCOM continues blockade enforcement operations across the Arabian Sea and approaches to the Strait of Hormuz.
