The tanker Metro Venetian was struck by an unidentified projectile at approximately 2025 local time on August 24 while transiting approximately nine nautical miles northeast of Ash Shishah, Oman, in the Strait of Hormuz. The projectile struck the engine room, knocking out propulsion and leaving the vessel immobilised. All crew were reported safe and no environmental impact was confirmed. No party had claimed responsibility at time of publication. UKMTO issued an advisory urging caution in the area.
