Operations at the Port of Salalah in Oman have been halted after an attack caused fires at fuel storage facilities within the port area.
Video footage circulating online shows multiple storage tanks burning while the nearby container terminal remains visible in the foreground. Maritime security analysts said it is still unclear whether the tanks were directly targeted or damaged by debris following intercepted aerial threats.
Shipping agent updates confirmed that terminal activities were suspended following a customer advisory issued by port authorities, with the shutdown in effect as of 17:00 GST.
Container line A.P. Moller – Maersk reported that operations at its terminal had been paused and that personnel were following established evacuation procedures.
The affected facility is operated by APM Terminals, which serves as a major regional hub for Maersk and its Gemini Cooperation partner Hapag-Lloyd.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the extent of the damage or when operations may resume.
