Offshore Tug Selat Storm Struck by Projectile Northwest of Musandam, Reported Partially Sinking

The UAE-owned offshore tug/supply vessel Selat Storm (about 1,300 DWT) was struck by a projectile northwest of the Musandam Peninsula in the Strait of Hormuz just after 1500 UTC on November 1. The vessel had left Al Hamriyah, UAE, shortly before, where it had been berthed for several weeks.

A passing vessel relayed the mayday, and reported Selat Storm as “partially sinking”. Crew status has not been reported. The strike is the second tug hit in the strait, following JIF Barracuda on October 18.
