A service transfer vessel capsized today in the outer anchorage off Beira, Mozambique, while carrying personnel bound for the tanker Sea Quest, which is under Scorpio Marine Management.
Preliminary reports indicate 21 individuals were on board. Of these, 14 have been rescued, and three are receiving medical treatment on board Sea Quest. Tragically, seven people remain unaccounted for. Some survivors may have succumbed to injuries before recovery.
The service craft had been transferring crew to the Marshall Islands-flagged Sea Quest, positioned in the offshore anchorage. The vessel was on approach when it overturned under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Scorpio has confirmed coordination with maritime authorities and is in contact with the families of the affected crew. It has pledged a full investigation into the incident. Other nearby vessels are assisting in ongoing search and rescue efforts.
