Cargo Ship Victress Struck in Drone Attack, One Crew Member Killed

The Turkish cargo ship Victress was struck in a drone attack that Ukraine's Ministry of Defence attributed to Russia, according to a statement posted to Telegram on Monday. A fire broke out aboard the vessel following the strike.

One Egyptian crew member was killed in the attack, Ukraine's Defence Minister confirmed on X. Crew nationals aboard included citizens of Egypt, Turkey, and India.

AIS data from ShipAtlas places the vessel off the coast of Romania, near the Ukrainian border, at time of reporting. Images shared by Ukrainian officials on Telegram show the vessel ablaze following the strike.

The attack on Victress coincided with reported Russian strikes in Odesa and a drone attack in Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine on the same day.

Russia has not commented on the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
