Attacks continue in Black Sea

On Monday, October 14th, another Russian missile strike targeted the port of Odesa, Ukraine (LOCODE: UAODS), damaging two merchant ships. One of the ships, the Palau-flagged 5,800 dwt Optima (IMO: 9528691), had already sustained damage from a ballistic missile attack just a week earlier. The second vessel, a Belize-flagged 2,700 dwt cargo ship NS Moon (IMO: 8919855), was also hit while moored at the port.

The attack resulted in the death of one person and injuries to eight others, with two in critical condition. Significant damage was also reported to grain storage facilities and other port infrastructure.

Over the past three months, Russia has carried out almost 60 missile strikes, severely damaging or destroying close to 300 port facilities and 22 civilian vessels according to Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba
